Guide to Building a Wooden Subwoofer Box for Cars
Car modification will never be enough without installing a powerful sound system. However, most of the time, this project can become expensive. Fortunately, there are ways to cut costs on this task. One of these ways is to build the subwoofer box manually instead of buying one. So, if you are planning to make one, follow this simple guide.
Before you start, prepare the tools and materials that you will need, including a sheet of ½ inch medium density wooden fibreboard, a tape measure, a circular and a regular saw, a carpet cloth, a few pieces of 1 ½ and ½ wood screws, a screwdriver, and a drill with a ¼ inch drill bit.
After all that is prepared, begin by getting the exact dimensions of your subwoofer using the measuring tape. Use the regular saw to cut the medium density fibreboards into six square pieces, which are at least 2 inches larger than your sub's actual size. These boards will act as the sides of the box later on.
Next, cut large holes on two pieces of boards using the circular saw. These openings will provide an exit for the sound waves to ensure that there will be no distortion later on. To continue, assemble everything, except the top portion, into your desired shape and use the drill and the screwdriver to secure each panel. After which, you may then slide in the subwoofer into the box. For the top part, you can go with a creative approach and create a small door or a removable cover. Finally, cover the box with carpet or any type of cloth to give it a better look.
